Farcaster Integration

Farcaster is a decentralized social network protocol. It allows users to own their social identity and data. Farcaster enables seamless integration with various apps and services. It prioritizes user control and open access. The protocol supports features like posting, mirroring, and community channels.

As of early 2024, Farcaster has seen significant growth, particularly after the launch of its Frames feature, which allows users to embed interactive applications within their posts. As per July 2024, Farcaster has over 619,000 total registered users and c. 55k Daily Active Users..

Any Phaver L2 user can free-mint a Farcaster profile.

Farcaster terminology includes:

• Post = Cast: On Farcaster, a "post" is referred to as a "cast".

• Mirror = Recast: Similar to the concept of retweeting on Twitter, "mirroring" a post is called "recasting" on Farcaster.

• Channels: Farcaster supports various channels, similar to Phaver communities, where users can post and engage with content related to specific interests or topics.

• Frames: a Frame on Farcaster is an interactive application embedded within a cast. Frames can include diverse functionalities such as games, quizzes, polls, NFT minting, and more. This feature allows users to engage with external content and applications without leaving the Farcaster app

Core features of Facraster supported by Phaver include:

• Minting Farcaster profile from Phaver for free went live in March 2024

• Cross-protocol posting went live in April 2024

• Cross-protocol comments, mirrors/recasts from Phaver as well as selecting a channel for posting and mirroring went live in May 2024

• Cross-protocol quotes and likes from Phaver went live in June 2024

• The full-fledged version of cross-protocol functionality will come in Q3 2024. The update will include:

  • Indexing posts from Farcaster into Phaver

  • Indexing comments from Farcaster into Phaver

Connecting Farcaster can be done from profile tab, or as part of the posting flow. The integration is provided by Neynar, where the user authenticates their Farcaster profile - and voila! Everything works like magic thereafter. Be ready for the exciting cross-protocol journey ahead!
